Origin

This property originated from an examination of Pubs Warehouse records where we sometimes have USGS Program names listed as affiliations with product contributors. This gives us an important clue that we don't really find elsewhere without connecting some other dots into an internal USGS budgeting database. It seems to indicate that an author/contributor was supported by a Program, at least at the time of publication for a particular product. It is a little bit of a judgment call, but we make the leap to tie the funding program directly to the publication with a qualifier indicating the nature of the claim.
