Methods for calculating metabolism from continuous measurements of dissolved-oxygen concentration and water temperature are fairly well known, but a standard set of procedures and computation software for all aspects of the calculations were not available previously. The Stream Metabolism Program addresses this deficiency with a stand-alone executable computer program written in Visual Basic.NET?, which runs in the Microsoft Windows? environment.\r\n\r\nAll equations and assumptions used in the development of the software are documented in this report. Detailed guidance on application of the software is presented, along with a summary of the data required to use the software. Data from either a single station or paired (upstream, downstream) stations can be used with the software to calculate metabolism variables.", "description": "x, 35 p.", "publisher": { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Geological Survey (U.S.)" }, "author": [ { "@type": "Person", "name": "Nardi, Mark R. mrnardi@usgs.gov", "givenName": "Mark R.", "familyName": "Nardi", "email": "mrnardi@usgs.gov", "identifier": { "@type": "PropertyValue", "propertyID": "ORCID", "value": "0000-0002-7310-8050", "url": "https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7310-8050" }, "affiliation": [ { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Maryland-Delaware-District of Columbia Water Science Center", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/centers/md-de-dc-water" } ] }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Bales, Jerad D. jdbales@usgs.gov", "givenName": "Jerad D.", "familyName": "Bales", "email": "jdbales@usgs.gov", "identifier": { "@type": "PropertyValue", "propertyID": "ORCID", "value": "0000-0001-8398-6984", "url": "https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8398-6984" }, "affiliation": [ { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Office of the Chief Scientist for Water", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/associate-chief-information-officer" }, { "@type": "Organization", "name": "National Research Program - Eastern Branch", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/centers/arizona-water-science-center" } ] } ], "funder": [ { "@type": "Organization", "name": "South Atlantic Water Science Center", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/centers/sawsc" } ], "spatialCoverage": [ { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "country", "name": "United States", "url": "https://geonames.org/4074035" } ] } }
