"abstract": "The Community for Data Integration (CDI) is a group that helps members grow their expertise on all aspects of working with scientific data. The CDI\u2019s activities advance data and information integration capabilities in the U.S. Geological Survey and in the wider Earth and biological sciences. This annual report describes the presentations, activities, collaboration areas, workshop, and other CDI-sponsored events in fiscal year 2017. The report also describes the objectives of the 11 CDI-funded projects in fiscal year 2017. The report shows how the CDI activities fulfill the strategic objective of the U.S. Geological Survey\u2019s Core Science Systems Mission Area to develop a workplace model for interdisciplinary science.",
