"abstract": "He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Davis. His work research is focused on interactions of native and non-native fishes with their environment, including novel ecosystem elements such as altered hydrology and proliferating non-native habitat engineers such as submersed aquatic vegetation. Currently he works in a variety of systems exploring relationships between native fishes and changes to their environment. This includes the spread of non-native species and potential displacement/competition, habitat alteration and the loss of underlying ecosystem processes, and the potential for habitat restoration to provide key mechanistic benefits to native fishes and other aquatic organisms.",
