       "abstract": "Having started her career in the USGS Syosset (Long Island), NY office, Kris rejoins the New York Water Science Center after 32 years in engineering consulting where, as a Professional Engineer, she specialized in numerical groundwater flow model applications for regional water-resources and hydrology assessments, groundwater pollutant migration and saltwater intrusion studies, and remediation and facilities planning investigations.  She is particularly interested in applying mathematical models to more rigorously explore hydraulic connections between coastal and inland surface water and groundwater systems. Kris is currently serving as the project coordinator for the Long Island Sound Compound Flood Risk Study and a companion study of compound flood drivers supported by Hurricane Ida supplemental FEMA flooding."
