"abstract": "Michelle is a geographer for the USGS, National Geospatial Program, User Engagement Office. She serves as the National Map Liaison to Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. She works to develop partnerships and data acquisition agreements in those states to ensure the availability of elevation and hydrography datasets for a broad range of users and applications.BACKGROUNDGeographer, US Geological Survey, Wetland and Aquatic Research Center, Baton Rouge, LA: Michelle served as a liaison between USGS and other government agencies (State and Federal) involved in coastal restoration efforts in Louisiana. Specifically, she conducted land change analysis of restoration activities in coastal Louisiana under the Coastal Wetland Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) and served as the Geospatial Coordinator for the RESTORE Council, which is comprised of the five Gulf states and six federal agencies.GIS Specialist, IAP World Services, Inc. at the US Geological Survey, National Wetlands Research Center, Coastal Restoration Field Station, Baton Rouge, LA: Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Planning Act (CWPPRA) support (GIS support, including land change analysis for restoration projects within coastal Louisiana; technical support at meetings across coastal Louisiana); Land change analysis for other coastal restoration projects (Louisiana Coastal Area, Louisiana CPRA), Systems data archiving, Climatological support for the Coastal Restoration Field Station.Spatial Analysis Technician, IAP World Services, Inc. at the US Geological Survey, National Wetlands Research Center, Coastal Restoration Field Station, Baton Rouge, LA: Historical title research, GIS mapping, digitizing State owned water bottoms in Louisiana.Research Associate, Department of Geography and Anthropology, Southern Regional Climate Center/Louisiana Office of State Climatology, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Conducted climatological research that investigate spurious trends in the United States Climate Division database. Duties include climatological research, GIS mapping, and publication of results.Research Assistant/Masters student, Department of Geography and Anthropology, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana: Analyzed magnitude and frequency of extreme rainfall events in East Baton Rouge Parish. Investigated the spatial distribution of extreme rainfall events over East Baton Rouge Parish.
