Surface elevation was measured using a combination of rod surface elevation tables (SETs) and feldspar marker horizons. Here, we document mangrove forest and soil structural changes within transects established in tidally restricted areas on Marco Island (Collier County, Florida, USA), which has broad swaths of dead-standing or unhealthy mangroves. Original data were collected in January 2015, and re-collected in August 2015, January 2016, July 2016, January 2017, June 2018 and June 2019.",
