       "description": "The project focuses on the erosion of riverine bluffs composed of unconsolidated (loose) predominately Miocene (23 to 5 million years ago) sediments capped by more recent Quaternary (~2.6 million years ago to present) sediments at York River State Park, Virginia. The steady erosion and eventual collapse of bluffs play a role in sediment supply within the local area and watershed, and excessive sediment input can affect this system. In order to better understand bluffs and what hazards they might pose to local communities and the river system, several monitoring projects have been started to observe changes in bluff position and appearance over time.",
