To perform geospatial processing over the large geographic area, each 1/3 arc-second (10-meter) Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is processed independently in a \u2018high throughput\u2019 fashion. By using a USGS high-performance computer (hpc) for computations, multiple DEMs can be processed concurrently and large amounts of data can be accessed efficiently through high-speed file storage connections. This software data processing involves preparing geospatial files and creating additional topographic data needed for each DEM, then integrating this information with each landslide in the national landslide database.
