The magmatic activity lasted a minimum of 0.52 Ma.\u00a040Ar/39Ar amphibole dating yielded ages from 21.9 0.6 to 21.8 0.3, identical within errors to the UPb ages, despite the expected 1% theoretical bias between\u00a040Ar/39Ar and UPb dates. This overlap could result from (i) rapid cooling of the intrusion (i.e., less than the 0.3 to 0.6 Ma\u00a040Ar/39Ar age uncertainties) from closure temperatures (Tc) of zircon (699988C) to amphibole (500600C) (ii) lead loss affecting the youngest zircons or (iii) excess argon shifting the plateau ages towards older values. The combination of the\u00a040Ar/39Ar and U/Pb datasets implies that the maximum amount of time PX1 intrusion took to cool below amphibole\u00a0Tc\u00a0is 0.8 Ma, suggesting PX1 lifetime of 520000 to 800000 Ma. Age disparities among coexisting baddeleyite and zircon (22.10 0.07/0.08/0.15 Ma and 21.58 0.15/0.16/0.31 Ma) in a gabbro sample from the pluton margin suggest complex genetic relationships between phases. Baddeleyite is found preserved in plagioclase cores and crystallized early from low silica activity magma. Zircon crystallized later in a higher silica activity environment and is found in secondary scapolite and is found close to calcite veins, in secondary scapolite that recrystallised from plagioclase. close to calcite veins. Oxygen isotope\u00a018O values of altered plagioclase are high (+7.7), indicating interaction with fluids derived from host-rock carbonatites. The coexistence of baddeleyite and zircon is ascribed to interaction of the PX1 gabbro with CO2-rich carbonatite-derived fluids released during contact metamorphism.", "description": "26 p.", "publisher": { "@type": "Organization", "name": "NRC Research Press" }, "author": [ { "@type": "Person", "name": "Schaltegger, Urs", "givenName": "Urs", "familyName": "Schaltegger" }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Bussien, Denise", "givenName": "Denise", "familyName": "Bussien" }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Lewin, Eric", "givenName": "Eric", "familyName": "Lewin" }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Cosca, Michael", "givenName": "Michael", "familyName": "Cosca", "identifier": { "@type": "PropertyValue", "propertyID": "ORCID", "value": "0000-0002-0600-7663", "url": "https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0600-7663" }, "affiliation": [ { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Geology, Geophysics, and Geochemistry Science Center", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/centers/gggsc" } ] }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Allibon, James", "givenName": "James", "familyName": "Allibon" }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Ovtcharova, Maria", "givenName": "Maria", "familyName": "Ovtcharova" }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Bussy, Francois", "givenName": "Francois", "familyName": "Bussy" } ], "funder": [ { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Central Mineral and Environmental Resources Science Center", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/centers/gggsc" }, { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Geology, Geophysics, and Geochemistry Science Center", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/centers/gggsc" } ], "spatialCoverage": [ { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "country", "name": "Spain", "url": "https://geonames.org/4223844" }, { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "state", "name": "Canary Islands" }, { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "unknown", "name": "Fuerteventura" }, { "@type": "Place", "geo": [ { "@type": "GeoShape", "additionalProperty": { "@type": "PropertyValue", "name": "GeoJSON", "value": { "type": "FeatureCollection", "features": [ { "type": "Feature", "properties": {}, "geometry": { "type": "Polygon", "coordinates": [ [ [ -14.30694580078125, 28.035622160834343 ], [ -14.190216064453125, 28.15313572268348 ], [ -13.90594482421875, 28.240278994560775 ], [ -13.812561035156248, 28.518176111013897 ], [ -13.830413818359375, 28.727926235000968 ], [ -13.903198242187498, 28.76765910569123 ], [ -14.039154052734375, 28.72070045309387 ], [ -14.139404296875, 28.4795558045049 ], [ -14.2218017578125, 28.329768791444536 ], [ -14.235534667968748, 28.230599918714773 ], [ -14.390716552734373, 28.132549863716783 ], [ -14.497833251953123, 28.11801628757283 ], [ -14.5184326171875, 28.073192028027314 ], [ -14.30694580078125, 28.035622160834343 ] ] ] } } ] } } }, { "@type": "GeoCoordinates", "latitude": 28.398447142653016, "longitude": -14.056497012048554 } ] } ] }
