A low-temperature persulfate/oxygen/ultraviolet wet oxidation procedure was utilized for analyzing DOC samples adapted for ionic strength from major freshwater sources of the northern and southern regions of San Francisco Bay. The ionic strength of samples was modified with a chemically defined seawater medium up to 0.7M. Based on the results, a minimum effect of ionic strength on oxidation proficiency for DOC sources to the Bay over an ionic strength gradient of 0.0 to 0.7 M was observed. There was no major impacts of ionic strength on two Suwanee River fulvic acids. In general, the noted effects associated with ionic strength were smaller than the variances seen in the aquatic environment between high- and low-temperature methods.", "description": "8 p.", "publisher": { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Springer" }, "author": [ { "@type": "Person", "name": "Hunter, Y.R.", "givenName": "Y.R.", "familyName": "Hunter" }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "Kuwabara, J.S.", "givenName": "J.S.", "familyName": "Kuwabara" } ], "funder": [ { "@type": "Organization", "name": "San Francisco Bay-Delta", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/ecosystems" }, { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Toxic Substances Hydrology Program", "url": null }, { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Pacific Regional Director's Office", "url": "https://www.usgs.gov/regions/southwest" } ], "spatialCoverage": [ { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "country", "name": "United States", "url": "https://geonames.org/4074035" }, { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "state", "name": "California" }, { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "city", "name": "San Francisco", "url": "https://geonames.org/5391959" }, { "@type": "Place", "additionalType": "unknown", "name": "San Francisco Bay", "url": "https://geonames.org/5391961" }, { "@type": "Place", "geo": [ { "@type": "GeoShape", "additionalProperty": { "@type": "PropertyValue", "name": "GeoJSON", "value": { "type": "FeatureCollection", "features": [ { "type": "Feature", "properties": {}, "geometry": { "type": "Polygon", "coordinates": [ [ [ -123.0084228515625, 37.243448378654115 ], [ -123.0084228515625, 38.171273439283084 ], [ -121.70379638671874, 38.171273439283084 ], [ -121.70379638671874, 37.243448378654115 ], [ -123.0084228515625, 37.243448378654115 ] ] ] } } ] } } }, { "@type": "GeoCoordinates", "latitude": 37.707360908968596, "longitude": -122.35610961914064 } ] } ] }
