   "abstract": "Seventy new measurements (SrT-Pco2\u00a0of the solubility of strontianite were used to evaluate the equilibrium constant for the reaction\u00a0SrCO3(cr) =\u00a0Sr2+(aq) +\u00a0CO2\u22123(aq) between 2 and 91 \u00b0C. The temperature dependence of the equilibrium constant is given by the expression Log\u00a0K\u00a0= 155.0305 \u2212 7239.594/T\u00a0\u2212 56.58638 log\u00a0T\u00a0where\u00a0T\u00a0is in degrees Kelvin. The log\u00a0K\u00a0of strontianite, the Gibbs energy, enthalpy and entropy of the reaction at 25\u00b0C are \u22129.271 \u00b1 0.020, 52.919 \u00b1 0.08\u00a0kJ\u00a0\u00b7 mol\u22121, \u22121.67 \u00b1 1.30\u00a0kJ\u00a0\u00b7 mol\u22121, and \u2212183.1 \u00b1 4.0\u00a0J\u00a0\u00b7 mol\u22121\u00a0\u00b7\u00a0K\u22121, respectively. The equilibrium constants are consistent with an aqueous model that includes the ion pairs SrHCO+3(aq) and SrCO03(aq) which were evaluated by potentiometric methods between 5 and 80\u00b0C. The equilibrium constant for the association reaction\u00a0Sr2+(aq) +\u00a0HCO\u22123(aq) =SrHCO+3aq) is given by the expression Log\u00a0KSrHCO+3\u00a0= \u22123.248 + 0.014867T. The log of the association constant, the Gibbs energy, enthalpy and entropy of the reaction at 25\u00b0C are 1.18, \u22126.76 kJ \u00b7 mol\u22121, 25.30 kJ \u00b7 mol\u22121, and 107.5 J \u00b7 mol\u22121\u00a0\u00b7 K\u22121, respectively. The equilibrium constant for the association reaction\u00a0Sr2+(aq) +\u00a0CO2\u22123(aq) =\u00a0SrCO03aq) is given by the expression Log\u00a0KSrCO03\u00a0= \u22121.019 + 0.012826T. The log of the association constant, the Gibbs energy, enthalpy, and entropy of the reaction at 25\u00b0C are 2.81, \u221216.01 kJ \u00b7 mol\u22121,21.83 kJ \u00b7 mol\u22121, and 126.9 J \u00b7 mol\u22121\u00a0\u00b7 K\u22121, respectively. These results lead to reliable calculation of the aqueous speciation and solubility of strontianite in the system SrCO3-CO2-H2O from 0 to more than 90\u00b0C. Literature data on the solubility of strontianite have been evaluated and compared with these results.\nOur new data for strontianite have been used in an evaluation of the thermodynamic properties of Sr2+(aq), SrCO3(cr) and related compounds. The following values are recommended for the standard enthalpy (kJ \u00b7 mol\u22121), Gibbs energy (kJ \u00b7 mol\u22121), and entropy (J \u00b7 mol\u22121\u00a0\u00b7 K\u22121), respectively, of Sr2+aq): \u2212550.90 \u00b1 0.50, \u2212563.83 \u00b1 0.8 and \u221231.50 \u00b1 2.0, and for SrCO3(cr): \u22121225.77 \u00b1 1.1, \u22121144.73 \u00b1 1.0 and 97.2.",
