     "text": "In 2006, the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO established the U.S. National Committee for the International Hydrological Programme to support IHP activities. The functions of the Committee are to provide advice on hydrological issues to the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO in accordance with the Bylaws."

     "text": "The National Committee for IHP brings together many of the key Federal agencies with mission responsibility for in the hydrologic sciences, hydrological research groups, and academic researchers in the hydrologic research community within the United States. As such, the United States is able to contribute towards IHP through a variety of hydrologic research programs and related activities."

     "text": "IHP activities in the United States are carried out under the guidance of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO. There are two meetings of the IHP National Committee each year, in the fall and spring. Activities are conducted largely between the members by telecommunications. IHP activities are regularly reported to the UNESCO National Commission."

     "text": "The U.S. National Committee includes members of the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO, U.S. government agencies, and external organizations with expertise in water resources. U.S. National Committee IHP members serve terms of 1-3 years, with the responsibility for chairing the Committee rotated among the Federal agencies.
