Much of her early career was spent working with the USGS Toxics Substances Hydrology Program on Cape Cod looking at water quality near a sewage-contaminated groundwater plume. More recent studies include changes in phosphorus in the Assabet River following the upgrade of several wastewater treatment plants and analysis of trends in surface water quality in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She is currently working on a project looking at aluminum and organic carbon in surface-water bodies near drinking water and wastewater treatment plants in Massachusetts.Jennifer has also participated in groundwater flow modeling projects and the use of alternative techniques to detect organic compounds in the environment and determine source of contaminants, the use of varying methods to determine age dates of ground water, and geophysical methods such as conductance and gamma logging to determine lithology and saltwater/freshwater interface and cross-hole radar scanning for detection of permeable reactive barriers. additionalType: personal statement email: jsavoie@usgs.gov hasCredential: - '@type': EducationalOccupationalCredential name: B.A. Geology and Chemistry, University of Maine, 1991 hasOccupation: - '@type': OrganizationalRole affiliatedOrganization: '@type': Organization name: New England Water Science Center url: https://www.usgs.gov/centers/new-england-water-science-center roleName: Hydrologist startDate: '2024-05-10T20:47:34.728487' - '@type': Occupation additionalType: self-claimed professional experience name: Hydrologist, U.S. Geological Survey, New England Water Science Center, 1992 to Present identifier: - '@type': PropertyValue propertyID: ORCID value: 0000-0002-3906-6782 - '@type': PropertyValue propertyID: GeoKB value: https://geokb.wikibase.cloud/entity/Q49106 jobTitle: Hydrologist knowsAbout: - '@type': Thing additionalType: self-claimed expertise name: Water Quality Sampling memberOf: '@type': OrganizationalRole member: '@type': Organization name: U.S. Geological Survey name: staff member startDate: '2024-05-10T20:47:34.724964' name: Jennifer Given Savoie url: https://www.usgs.gov/staff-profiles/jennifer-given-savoie
