Biography: "Geoffrey M. Henebry earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John\u2019\ s College (Santa Fe) in 1982, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from\ \ the University of Texas at Dallas in 1986 and 1989, respectively. Geoff served\ \ on the faculties of Kansas State University (Biology), Rutgers University-Newark\ \ (Biological Sciences), and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Natural Resources).\ \ From 7/2005 to 8/2018, Geoff worked at South Dakota State University. He was\ \ a tenured full professor in the department of Natural Resource Management and\ \ served as the Co-Director at the Geospatial Sciences Center of Excellence (http://globalmonitoring.sdstate.edu).\ \ From 8/2018 to 5/2019, he was a John A. Hannah Distinguished Visiting Professor\ \ in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences and in the\ \ Center for Global Change and Earth Observations (CGCEO) at Michigan State University\ \ in East Lansing. As of 8/2019, Geoff is a tenured full professor in the Department\ \ of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences and in the CGCEO at MSU. \n\n\ \ Geoff\u2019s research interests are broad, but a recurrent theme is the\ \ use of remote sensing to study ecological patterns and processes, including\ \ quantitative analysis and modeling of land surface phenology and land cover\ \ land use change. He has worked across with a wide spatio-temporal-spectral range\ \ of observational data: wavelengths from 10^-8 to 10^-2 m, periods from 10^1\ \ to 10^7 s, and areal extents from 10^-1 to 10^12 m^2. He is currently working\ \ with colleagues on diverse projects in Central Asia, Ethiopia, Great Plains\ \ of the North America, and the vegetated land surface of the western hemisphere,\ \ through funding support from NASA and NIH. \n\n Geoff currently serves on\ \ the editorial boards of Landscape Ecology, Land, and International Journal of\ \ Biometeorology, and as an Associate Editor for Remote Sensing of Environment.\ \ He worked closely with the USA-National Phenology Network (http://usanpn.org)\ \ from its inception until 2015, and served as the Chair of its Advisory Committee\ \ 2013-2015.
