   "abstract": "The bulk\u00a0magnetic susceptibilities\u00a0of single\u00a0gallium\u00a0crystals and\u00a0polycrystalline\u00a0gallium\u00a0spheres were\u00a0measured\u00a0at 25\u00b0C. The following\u00a0anisotropic\u00a0diamagnetic\u00a0susceptibilities\u00a0were found:\u00a0a\u00a0axis (\u22120.119\u00b10.001)\u00d710\u22126\u00a0emu/g,\u00a0b\u00a0axis (\u22120.416\u00b10.002)\u00d710\u22126\u00a0emu/g, and\u00a0c\u00a0axis (\u22120.229\u00b10.001) emu/g. The\u00a0susceptibility\u00a0of the\u00a0polycrystalline\u00a0spheres, assumed to be the average value for the bulk\u00a0susceptibility\u00a0of\u00a0gallium,\u00a0was (\u22120.257\u00b10.003)\u00d710\u22126\u00a0emu/g at 25\u00b0C, and (\u22120.299\u00b10.003)\u00d710\u22126\u00a0emu/g at \u2212196\u00b0C. The\u00a0susceptibility\u00a0of liquid\u00a0gallium\u00a0was (0.0031\u00b10.001)\u00d710\u22126\u00a0emu/g at 30\u00b0C and 100\u00b0C. Rotational diagrams of the\u00a0susceptibilities\u00a0in the three orthogonal planes of the unit cell were not sinusoidal. The\u00a0anisotropy\u00a0in the\u00a0single crystals\u00a0was presumably caused by the partial overlap of\u00a0Brillouin\u00a0zone boundaries by the Fermi\u2010energy\u00a0surface.\u00a0The large change in\u00a0susceptibility\u00a0associated with the change in state was attributed to the absence of effective mass influence in the liquid state.",
