abstract: I am a biogeochemist studying organic matter in Arctic coastal waters.
I investigate how rivers, coastal erosion, and groundwater impact carbon and
nitrogen cycling in the Alaska Beaufort Sea.
additionalType: staff profile page introductory statement
 - '@type': TextObject
abstract: I am broadly interested in biogeochemical cycling along terrestrial-aquatic-marine
continuums. My current research examines the sources and fate of terrestrial
organic matter in the Arctic Ocean. I use various geochemical analyses such
as isotopes, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and biomarkers to characterize
organic matter in soils, freshwaters, and marine sediments. These tools provide
information about the sources and biodegradability of organic matter, helping
us understand how terrestrial inputs impact greenhouse gas emissions and marine
     productivity.
