In 1994, I became a hydrologist with the South Dakota Water Science Center working in the Huron and Rapid City offices performing research on water quality and groundwater. I worked on many studies in South Dakota and several regional, national, and international studies. I also served as the report specialist for the South Dakota Water Science Center and other Centers within the USGS. In 2016, I became the Deputy Director for Studies for the then newly formed Dakota Water Science Center. In April 2019, I transitioned to a Bureau Approving Official with the Office of Science Quality and Integrity. I have authored or co-authored more than 50 scientific publications and thoroughly enjoyed working on all of them. additionalType: personal statement email: jmcarter@usgs.gov hasCredential: - '@type': EducationalOccupationalCredential name: M.S., Geological Engineering, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, 1994. - '@type': EducationalOccupationalCredential name: B.S., Geological Engineering, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, 1992. hasOccupation: - '@type': OrganizationalRole affiliatedOrganization: '@type': Organization name: Office of Science Quality and Integrity url: https://www.usgs.gov/office-of-science-quality-and-integrity roleName: Bureau Approving Official, Hydrologist startDate: '2024-05-12T15:37:40.043679' identifier: - '@type': PropertyValue propertyID: GeoKB value: https://geokb.wikibase.cloud/entity/Q45236 - '@type': PropertyValue propertyID: ORCID value: 0000-0002-6376-3473 jobTitle: Bureau Approving Official, Hydrologist knowsAbout: [] memberOf: '@type': OrganizationalRole member: '@type': Organization name: U.S. Geological Survey name: staff member startDate: '2024-05-12T15:37:40.040844' name: Janet M Carter url: https://www.usgs.gov/staff-profiles/janet-m-carter
