personal_statement: "Broadly-trained in ecosystem ecology, her research focuses\
\ on the relative influences of wetland and estuarine characteristics on carbon,\
\ nutrient, and trace-metal biogeochemistry. Her approaches span landscape-to-molecular\
\ scales as necessary to understand how alterations of wetland structure influences\
\ wetland function. Lisa\u2019s research sites represent a wide range of salinity\
\ and management conditions, from rice agriculture to coastal and restored wetlands.\
\ Since 2000, she has authored or coauthored over 100 peer reviewed papers on\
\ wetland biogeochemistry, and co-produced functional maps of wetland elevation\
\ and soil characteristics. From local to national to global assessments, Lisa\
\ represents USGS capabilities and interests across the aquatic continuum to\
\ improve management of wetlands under climate and landuse-change scenarios.EDUCATIONPh.D.\
