abstract: Tim previously served the Water Mission Area (WMA) in the Observing
Systems Division, Hydrologic Networks Branch where he led the Field Support
Team and was program coordinator for the USGS-National Park Service Water Quality
Partnership. Tim oversaw delivery of multi-disciplinary expertise in sediment,
surface water, and discrete water quality, and worked on per- and polyfluoroalkyl
substance (PFAS) field sampling methods and the national stream temperature
network.Tim also has worked on a detail for the Laboratory Analytical Services
Division as a supervisor in the Quality Assurance Section, within the USGS National
Water Quality Lab. His technical efforts have included conducting tests to better
understand and test field methods, including the testing of self-contained dissolved
oxygen sensors, working on testing of new gloves, and a national assessment
of low-level ammonia in field blanks.Tim is an active participant in the National
Water Quality Monitoring Council, serving as the co-chair of the planning committee
for the spring 2021 virtual National Monitoring Conference. He sits on the Continuous
Water Quality Committee for the WMA regarding all aspects of the development
and use of water quality sensors in support of extended deployments for continuous
monitoring. He is an instructor at the USGS National Training Center for the
Field Water Quality Methods for Surface-Water and Groundwater and Field Methods
Refresher classes. He began his career with the USGS in the New Jersey Water
