   personal_statement: "As a Peace Corps Volunteer, I worked at the Raung Volcano\
     \ Observatory in East Java, Indonesia. I acted as regular observatory staff\
     \ \u2014 noting activity, writing reports, etc. We also installed several temporary\
     \ and permanent seismic stations. In Singapore, I taught introductory geology\
     \ classes in the classroom and field to Nanyang Technological University's first\
     \ cohort of undergraduate students in the Earth Sciences discipline. As a member\
     \ of VDAP, I work as an operational seismologist \u2014 responding to inquiries\
     \ form partners and maintaining monitoring software. I also co-teach the seismology\
     \ section at the Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes. In my free time,\
     \ I enjoy running, biking, and skiing. With enough effort, I forget that I was\
     \ raised in Dallas, Texas."
