     "abstract": "Groundwater provides nearly 50 percent of the Nation\u2019s drinking water. To help protect this vital resource, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Project assesses groundwater quality in aquifers that are important sources of drinking water. The Coastal Lowlands aquifer system constitutes one of the important areas being evaluated.\u00a0One or more inorganic\u00a0constituents with human-health\u00a0benchmarks were detected at high\u00a0concentrations in about 12 percent\u00a0of the study area and at moderate\u00a0concentrations in about 18 percent.\u00a0Organic constituents were not detected\u00a0at high or moderate concentrations in\u00a0the study area.",
